Reconciliation Week
The week started with the whole school gathered around the flagpole with Auntie Irene raising the Aboriginal flag to launch Reconciliatipn Week. 'Reconciliation' is about Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians talking, walking, and working together to overcome the reasons that there is division and inequality between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians. In class we shared ideas about what respectful relationships looks and feels like. Mid week students spent time with Auntie Irene to discuss ways in which they have respectful relationships with others. Auntie Irene shared Aboriginal peoples symbols used in artwork and students were then able to create their own Reconcilation flags. Tomorrow students will get to experience kangaroo meat kindly prepared by Warren Miller.
